Cala Gonone

Cala Gonone is a lively fraction of Dorgali, set amongst the sea and the mountains of the Gulf of Orosei, in the centre of Sardinia, on its eastern coast.
An emerald sea, thick and unspoilt forests, sharp rugged mountains and a long stretch of coast distinguish the lovely Cala Gonone. The beaches are white distances of fine white sand interrupted by small and enchanting coves, the most famous are Cala Fuili, Cala Luna, Cala Sisine, Cala Mariolu and Cala Goloritzè, pronounced Natural Monument of Sardinia for its beauty and environmental integrity.
Cala Gonone is also a privileged destination for a number of sports activities. The stunning natural landscapes of the Gulf of Orosei, characterised by cliffs, gorges, canyons, springs and caves, are the ideal for free climbing and trekking lovers, as well as hang gliding and paragliding enthusiasts, there are also plenty of opportunities for kayaking, canyoning, scuba diving and speleology excursions.
The acquarium of Cala Gonone, inaugurated in July 2010, is the largest in central and southern Italy, its 25 pools allow to explore the seabeds of the Mediterranean and the Tropical seas. Thanks to an efficient public transport, it's possible to start from the tourist port of Cala Gonone and go on fun excursions in the beautiful coves of the Gulf of Orosei and the Bue Marino caves, where seals supposedly once lived (Bue Marino is a type of seal).
Good food lovers will not be disappointed by the local specialities, the thousand year agropastoral tradition of the island's inland (Barbagia) can be enjoyed in the many restaurants and holiday farms of the area.
