Luras is mostly known for the importance of its prehistoric monuments, four “Dolmen” (called “Ladas”, “Alzoledda”, “Ciuledda” and “Billella”) made in the Neolithic as a place of collective worship and burial. In Luras you can also see one of the oldest olive trees in Europe, about 12 meters high and aged between 3000 and 4000 years old. This olive was declared a Natural Monument in 1991 and included in the list of the twenty Italian century-old trees (there is one century-old tree per region).
Less than an hour's drive from Luras you can also reach all the most beautiful resorts and beaches of the north-eastern coast of Sardinia, as those of Palau (46 miles), Porto Cervo and Baja Sardinia (50 km) Santa Teresa di Gallura (60 km) and San Teodoro (65 km).
